If any rust remains on the fireplace, particularity the back, it will continue to eat through helped by the corrosive gases and damp from the chimney. Our careful cleaning process removes all traces of rust, which dipping or stripping wont do, leaving a superior finish which enables the grate polish to key into the iron giving a nice smooth texture which will last. After ensuring our antique fireplaces are rust free we immediately apply a red oxide paint to seal the back and several cost of grate polish to the front. We then replace bolts and repair damaged parts, ensuring all our antique fireplaces (unless otherwise stated) are suitable for many more years service.
